About Molly M.

WHO ARE YOU? You are the future star of a Lin-Manuel Miranda show, if he would just write about your life for a change! You are a business owner whose voice is tired at the end of the day (*cough* singing lessons strengthen speaking *cough*) You're a player who's on the way to becoming a singer/songwriter. Someone told you you couldn't sing and after years of wondering, and now it's time to know for sure (they're wrong). You used to sing but life got in the way and you miss it, and you need to get back to it but don't know where to start and are worried you missed the boat (you didn't). You front the best Ratt cover band in the country Who Am I? I wanted to be the next Susannah Hoffs, or at least Mrs. David Lee Roth. Neither happened (yet), but I knew that music was IT for me. I would have married Elvis... but he was already dead. I was a happy theatre and music nerd in school, where I sang music theatre and opera. My high school choir teacher told me couldn't sing and had no talent. He also wrote that on my college recommendations. But still. . . I persisted. I'm a proud graduate of Millikin University, the Juilliard of the Midwest. While I was in college, I went Full Geek as I learned all about how the voice worked. So after graduating with a vocal performance degree (I shared a stage with Sierra Boggess once!), I put all my learning into practice:studying rock vocals, more classical voice, belting, pop, you name it! All of this experience has let me to be your ideal voice teacher and your biggest cheerleader. Besides your mom. It's my mission to help you enjoy the voice you've got and use it to the fullest, no matter what. I am the teacher for singers who don't want a teacher to be teacher-y (but who still want to learn to sing good and stuff). I can teach you online (but you'll miss out on my aging, sassy cat). It's all good. I will embrace you as you are (unless you love Christina Aguilera. If that's the case, you must be shown the error of your ways. And pretty much anybody on The Voice needs to be kicked in the voice). That's who I am. Very pleased to meet you. I want you to laugh as you learn, and love love love the results you’ll get . I understand what what it's REALLY about- expression and fun, not judgement . Vocal exploration that's 100% customized . BMus Millikin University, further studies Boston Conservatory . Coachings with professionals from Rossini Opera Festival, Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago. Rock vocals with Melissa Cross. Musical theatre with Sheri Sanders of Rock the Audition!, Vocal Instrument 101 training with Dr Shannon Coates. Dalcroze Eurythmics. John Henny's Science of Singing course completion. Belting with Lisa Popeil. Teacher masterclass with Maestro David Jones. Proud member of NATS. One of only a few CoreSinging teachers in the USA, trained by Dr.Meribeth Dayme. In progress: Ultimate Music Theory Teacher certification. Former students from ALL walks of life, including many many beginners of all ages (have I mentioned I love beginners?) Also: child Broadway actors, aspiring recording artists, scholarship recipients at top theater AND music theater programs, business owners, karaoke divas, film/TV actors, and even an American Idol finalist! Don't let piano scare you. I have a way of teaching beginner piano to ALL ages that is non intimidating and always always implementing songs that are actually ....GOOD (no "Hot Cross Buns" allowed)! I especially love teaching beginner piano to teens and adults. It's never ever too late to learn and enjoy it- so jump in! I'll help with sight-reading, style, note reading, musical terminology and more. I sing: opera, Broadway, classic pop and jazz, classic country, folk, and world music! I TEACH: opera, art song, pop from every era, musical theater, country, worship music, choral music, rock, folk, jazz, R&B, gospel.....seriously, you name it, I teach it! *** Lesson Details ***Online via Zoom, FaceTime or TakeLessons Classroom, of course! *** Studio Equipment *** Materials I use: Funky n' Fun Vocal Exercises, Estelle Liebling Vocal Methods, Bona and Dannhauser for sight-reading, Full Voice workbooks for young and serious singers! PIANO PRONTO for pianists! *** *** Specialties *** Beginner vocalists! Very shy singers. Very young singers. Lapsed singers, and seniors. Post-menopausal voices, adolescent voices. Experience in working with those with learning disabilities, anxiety, special needs, and victims of abuse. Have also worked extensively with the LGBTQ community and studied with experts in transgender voice .I also love to give workshops! Beginner adult pianists.

Molly is so amazing! She's such a positive, friendly, and encouraging teacher. She really aims to try and make it as fun and with as much ease for the student as possible. She's very hands on, and teaches by example and exercises, and makes it very easy for beginner students to jump right in. Of course she could easily help advanced students with all her expertise, but she is so easy to sing in front of, even when it's a very personal and new thing! Highly recommended. A fun, positive teacher, wonderful person!

Molly is an amazing teacher, overflowing with enthusiasm and encouragement. I'm an amateur singer, and just wanted to take lessons to improve my singing a little bit so I could be better at musical improv. She helped reconnect me with my love of singing, and now I want more.
