Want to learn to sing well and be able to connect to your music better? How about learn to deliver a song in a believable way? What if you could learn new ways to advance your musicianship, regardless of your current level? If these are things you'd like to improve, then I'm the person for you. I have a wide range of performing experience, including classical, opera, and jazz, and have done a lot of self made recital programs that focus on connecting audiences to the art forms in an engaging way. My goal is to help you and and the audience experience the music in a deeper way, which can only be done when musical foundations are built and technique aren't in the way. I'm open to many styles, except for hard rock and screamo.
About Mike H.

My teaching philosophy is based around efficiency and authenticity. By using our technique in healthy and efficient ways we are able to have a broad base for the vast majority of singing we will ever do. From there it is simply tweaking it to fit the style we are singing. I also value authenticity in performing, because if our performance is coming from an authentic place we are more successful in reaching the audience’s hearts and minds. As a performer, I take pride in providing moving performances. One of my passion projects is making classical music more accessible through recital work and retranslating music into modern English. My work often combines stand up comedy and music to help other see that classical music is actually really cool when done right. I also have a real passion for jazz, as it is one of the most thrilling to perform.
