My name is Michelle and I LOVE singing and helping others learn to sing and bring out their own special voice!
I studied classical music since I was 11 years old and then went on to study Opera in College. This gave me a solid foundation for music and music theory but it wasn't where my heart was. Since my decision to leave Opera studies I have experienced many different musical incarnations. In my professional career as a musician and artist I have performed, written and recorded in many genres such as folk, blues, pop, indie and americana.
I believe there are no limits to what one can do if there is passion and excitement behind it! I have been in music a long time now with many ups and downs and still love (almost) every minute of it :) I truly enjoy teaching and watching my students grow and surprise themselves. I had the most incredible teachers growing up, they supported me and help shape me as a artist and musician, I strive to do the same with my students. I genuinely care about each individual student I teach and want to help them achieve their highest potential!
*** Lesson Details ***
I approach each lesson catered to the individual. We all have different ways of learning. I studied classically as a chlid and went on to study Opera in University but I professional years have been spent doing a range of pop, blues, indie, folk and Americana. I have had many years in the music business and use that experience to help my students discover what they want to do with their voice. Are you an Artist? Do you just want to sing for fun? Are you an actor preparing a particular song for an audition? etc..
In all lessons we will focus on the connection of your breath. Basic warm up techniques, pitch control and full connection to the words you are singing. All music is telling a story and in my opinion that is one of the most crucial elements to a good singer is being able to successfully convey the story. And enjoying the process... its FUN!
*** Studio Equipment ***
Guitars, keyboard, ukulele, latest protools, vocal booth
I primarily teach popular music styles. I do have a background in Opera but I most of my students have been children, artist and actors that want to learn the fundamentals of proper singing techniques.

Michelle was so friendly, knowledgeable, and put me right at ease. Highly recommend!
I've been taking lessons sporadically the last few years and I love Michelle. She's a wonderful musician and teacher. I would definitely recommend her.
I have been taking private vocal lessons with Michelle for the past year. I have noticed a big difference in my vocal range and confidence. Michelle is fun, educated and clearly loves what she does. I would highly recommend her as a teacher.
Michelle Carter teacher review
has a lot of knowledge of what she is teaching (singing), always makes time for lessons, very involved in the student's goals and helps to achieve them, knows the students limits but pushes them, is willing to have the lessons at the student's home
Heart of gold!
Michelle is a bright light of love and technique she teaches with positive reinforcement and insightful personal feedback that gives you exactly the direction you need to get to where u want to go
Michelle has taught me so much about music and how to personally challenge myself to be better. I have advised many people to use her as a teacher.
Always wanted to take singing lessons? Try with Michelle!
Michelle is is an all around awesome person.
Im in my 20s and decided to take some singing classes. I've always loved to sing but really had no clue where it comes from or what I could do to improve. Michelle really enlightened me about the inner works/mechanics of singing and had me practice regularly and push/find my limits. Understanding the theory and practicing are really key in getting to know what you can do and where you can go. Michelle would try all sorts of exercises at different levels to guide me towards that.
Michelle really encouraging and gets the human/real/emotional side of singing. She is a singer, musician, song-writer herself.
Michelle is so easy going and reliable. Scheduling has always gone really smoothly.
The lessons would take place in her home music studio -- which really worked for me, because I can't go singing out loud where I live.
My schedule got crazy so I had to stop taking lessons for now, but am looking forward to taking more lessons with Michelle!
