- Teaches students:
- and Ages 5+
- Teaching since:
- November 2006
I believe that music should be a source of fun and enjoyment for the student. I work very hard to make sure that both the lessons – and the time spent practicing – are engaging, fulfilling, and most importantly, fun.
I have over a decade of experience both performing and teaching piano and bass, in almost every style of music. I have also studied music theory at Binghamton University, and studied jazz theory and performance with Doug Beardsley.
*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson is custom tailored to each student’s goal. Whether you want to learn how to play your favorite songs from the radio, introduce your child to the world of music, or take your playing to next level by learning music theory, jazz, or improvisation, I can help you to get there!
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to provide a weighted key keyboard or a piano for piano lessons, and a bass guitar (for the student) and practice amp for bass guitar lessons.
*** Specialties ***
Pop music, improvisation, soul, RnB. I try to teach to a student's tastes, making sure that they like the music they are playing and are having fun practicing. I am also comfortable teaching classical music (piano only) using Suzuki method, or selecting level appropriate materials that the student chooses.
Great with kids
Mike is doing a great job with our kids, ages 6 and 9. Early on he took the time to understand what each was interested in and tailored his lessons to most appeal to them. But he also worked in the important basics that they each need to learn. They are both starting to play more confidently now and enjoy learning new things each week.Mike is doing a great job and as good as he is teaching kids, I suspect he's great with teens and adults as well.
