During the first session, I ask the student for their goal. I can then work in a direction that will help them achieve that goal. For example, if a student wants to be a classical player, I will introduce them using simple books and lead to Suzuki. If I have a student that wants to play bluegrass or fiddle, I have books to teach that method as well.  One unique thing that I do in every session and spend the first 5 minutes giving a mini theory session because I believe it helps students to understand the concept of why they are playing certain ways and why notes fall in the place that they do.

I love watching people learn new things, and teaching violin brightens my heart. I am open and willing to teach any style in any level of violin. I have 20 years of  Symphony experience and nine years of fiddle experience. People often ask what the differences between a violin and fiddle -
nothing.  It is simply the style of playing the violin. I have experience teaching everything from classical to Bluegrass to fiddle to mariachi music. I am always open to new varieties of music and I love to cater to my students!

Melissa is a born musician. Her teaching is impeccable and she really seems to care about each of her students. I think Melissa is a great teacher Because she loves to get feedback from students to ensure they learn on a path towards their goal.
