Opera Voice with Megan M.

From a very young age, I enjoyed taking voice lessons and instrumental music training on piano, guitar and violin. I performed with the Vanderbilt Children’s Choir and my school choirs in grades 6-12. I was selected for the Tennessee All-State choir and attended the Tennessee Governor’s School in Vocal Music. Among the variety of performance experiences I have enjoyed are: bluegrass band, Irish dancing, musical theater, symphony choir, opera, handbell and choir director. I graduated from Belmont University with a BM in Music Education, with vocal emphasis in classical music. Through my participation in the Belmont Chamber Choir and the Nashville Symphony Choir, I gained performance experience in various genres of music, including opera, jazz, classical, Irish, bluegrass and musical theater. I obtained my MM in Vocal Pedagogy mentored by Dr. Jennifer Coleman; my thesis focused on vocal exercises and the effect on the hypothyroid vocalist. My post-graduate work includes certification in Vocology at University of Utah under Dr. Ingo Titze and a Level 1 certification as an Off-Schulwerk instructor under Mr. Charles Tighe. I have taught general music, band, and choir as a licensed music educator in Tennessee, California, Virginia, and North Carolina I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders from Utah State University to further me in my goal researching the human voice and teaching healthy singing.
