Drum like a pro with guidance from an experienced drummer
I gig, teach, and tour, full time as a drummer living in NYC. I've played drums for over 13 years and studied with numerous teachers across the country. I perform rock, gospel, funk, jazz, country, and pop music for audiences all over and can help students identify specific, tailored, course work to help them in whatever genre. My goal is to help students of all ages and abilities sift through the ocean of content to find the *right* challenges for them so they can play what they want to play. This if my life, this is what I love. I look forward to working with you!
About Max A.

I live, gig, tour, and teach full time as a drummer in NYC. I have over 13 years of experience playing pop, rock, gospel, funk, jazz, and musical theater. I've taught children as young as 4 years old, and adults over the age of 45, from total beginners to experienced players. What I've learned, and experienced as a student myself, is that every student's needs are unique. There is no one routine, no one pedagogy, that will work 100% for all students. One on one instruction works best when the course work matches the individual needs and goals of the student. Is your aim to make a career out of this instrument, or something fun to do in your free time? Do you want to learn everything there is about straight ahead jazz, or how to play your favorite pop tunes? All the above perhaps? My students can expect bespoke lesson plans that, if followed, will *guarantee musical development* in whichever direction they choose to take. I really enjoy working one on one because it allows me to get creative with my teaching process. The best parts for me are the 'aha' moments when something a students has struggled with finally clicks and they are able to expand their awareness and open up new possibilities in their playing. Studying with a great teacher has the potential not only to enrich your playing, but also your love of learning. My best teachers always pushed me the hardest and managed never to make lessons boring or tedious. I believe in challenging myself and my students, but also that challenges should be exciting and personal, not stale and templated. I look forward to working with you soon! Max
