Viola is my primary instrument, and I teach all ages and levels. Though I focus a lot on technique at the beginning (tension-free playing equals fun playing!), I quickly work with my students on building their repertoire.

I am a classically-trained viola and violin player in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am currently working towards my master's degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I have had plenty of experience teaching students of all ages and try to empower all of my students to be the best they can be!

Matthew makes it fun while learning.  He is patient with our daughter.  It's so lovely to hear the violin playing in our home.

Matthew is quite simply an outstanding teacher who has reignited my teenaged son's passion for music and playing his violin. His thoughtful, intelligent, tailored lessons are ones that our child look forward to each week-- even on the weekend! Matthew is a true gem.
