I am a professional saxophonist from South Africa, and have gained experience from around the world when it comes to my performing and teaching. I am a director of the South African Saxophone Society, and am a member of the North American Saxophone Alliance. I regularly perform at conferences in North America and abroad.
I am an active solo, chamber and recording musician, and am an endorsed artist, representing Henri Selmer Paris and Key Leaves. My playing style is broadly classical, with influences of jazz that result in a crossover style of playing. The focus of my teaching is typically sonic production. The experience I have gleamed from some of the top saxophonists internationally add to what I have to offer to you as my student.
I have worked at Pretoria Boys' High School since 2006, but went on a sabbatical in 2012 to complete my Master of Music degree, and left the school in 2016 to pursue my DMA at UCLA, after which I was offered the job again.
I worked as Woodwind Chamber Music Teaching Assistant, and then as a teaching associate for Music 15: The Art of Listening.
The North American Saxophone Alliance is an organization made up of individuals who share a common interest in the saxophone. Members include professional performers, university professors, public school teachers, students of all levels, and others who have an interest in the saxophone. In addition to the Alliance's emphasis on disseminating information concerning the saxophone, the organization also works to provide opportunities for its members to make music, fostering fellowship among saxophone enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds.Show More
