    About Matt H.

    Trombonist Matt, currently residing in New York City, is no stranger to the San Diego music scene and is in town for the duration of summer. Matt is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego. While in the military, he served as a trombonist in the US Marine Corps All-Star Jazz Band and Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band, performing across the United States. He has been a frontman to a vast multitude of various groups from coast to coast including the co-led Charlie Arbelaez-Matt Big Band, a 17-piece group made up of local San Diego musicians. Matt has performed with such artists as Arturo Sandoval, Bob Mintzer, Mundell Lowe, Peter Sprague, Bob Magnusson, Mike Wofford, Marshall Hawkins, Sean Jones, Gilbert Castellanos, Donald Brown, Eric Alexander, and Bob McChesney. Matt is currently studying with legendary jazz trumpeter Jon Faddis, leader of the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, John Mosca, jazz baritone saxophone veteran Gary Smulyan and other esteemed faculty at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music, finishing a bachelors degree in Jazz Studies. Matt performs exclusively on Michael Rath Trombones.
