Piano with Mark W.

Mark W. is available for in-studio lessons in NE Portland. Mark has played piano and violin for over 25 years and began teaching in 2000. Mark teaches all experience levels from beginner to advanced as well as coaches artists in touring rock bands and professional classical musicians. He is a hands-on, one-step-at-a-time teacher who believes in the whole musician. He incorporates music theory, history, and strategies for practicing into lessons. In all cases, he will be searching for and exploring music that the student can be excited about. Mark is a patient instructor and understands that students learn at different rates. After all everyone is an individual. ____________________ Mark studied at the University of Missouri where he completed his Master of Music degree in 2009. He teaches piano, violin, viola, composition, and music theory college prep classes. His students range from kindergarteners to adults. Mark has conducted youth choirs and orchestras for the last decade at Community Music Center, Pacific Youth Choir, and BRAVO Youth Orchestras. He has arranged over 200 pieces of folk, popular, and classical music for youth orchestra and choir.
