Discover your authentic, expressive voice!
I have a deep passion for empowering people to sing for personal satisfaction, artistic beauty and authentic self-expression. I synthesize yoga practices (postures, breathing, mindfulness) and science-based vocal wellness techniques in a unique and user-friendly approach. You will learn that your true voice already exists within, how to trust it, and how to work with it efficiently for self-awareness and self-expression. I've been teaching people to awaken and unveil their authentic voices for over 20 years. My students include amateur singers, chanters, business executives, actors and voice professionals. I believe that everyone has the right to be heard, understood and valued.
About Mark M.

I am an award-winning professional opera singer, voice teacher, yoga teacher/educator, workshop leader, and author. I am a thought-leader in the area of 21st Century vocal technology, a master teacher of both singing and classical yoga, and a specialist in helping people understand and connect to their authentic voices. I received my BM and MM degrees in Voice and Opera from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where my teacher and mentor was the famous vocal pedagogue, Richard Miller. My extensive performing career has taken me through many countries in a variety of leading operatic roles and as a concert soloist and recitalist. Additionally, I became interested in yoga in 1985 and began to fuse my interest in yoga and singing through years of practice and application in my singing career. I have since completed more than 1200 hours of formal study in yoga teaching and yoga therapeutics. I am the originator and Founding Partner of YogaVoice®, a unique personal transformation technology which combines several traditions of Yoga with Systematic Voice Technique. This work encourages self-awareness, freedom of personal expression and the ability to develop authenticity and wellness in the art of personal communication. In addition to private lessons, I often present YogaVoice® workshops at professional conferences and gatherings. I have published articles in YogaLiving Magazine and The Journal of Singing. I am co-author of The Musician’s Being and The Musician’s Breath, and the author and featured instructor of The Musician’s Breath Yoga DVD. I was the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Patrick D Kenan Award for Vocal Health and Wellness from the Duke Voice Care Center. I have taught on the faculties of The Oberlin Conservatory of Music, The New School (Mannes College of Music), Westminster Choir College, The College of New Jersey and Muhlenberg College. I am a YogaAlliance Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500) and an IAYT-Certified Yoga Therapist.
