    About Mark E.

    Before leaving to teach English in Africa last year, I taught private music lessons at a studio in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. I am originally from Mt. Lebanon where I graduated high school before getting a degree in Music Therapy from Duquesne University. I am comfortable teaching any level of percussion, beginner-intermediate guitar, beginner piano, and beginner-intermediate voice. I was trained in all of these areas as part of my degree. I am also experienced teaching English as a second language to both African and Eastern European students, with very different sets of needs that go with both. I embody the philosophy that hard work and fun go hand-in-hand, especially when engaging in the learning process. I think a positive attitude goes a long way, and so does a good laugh! Prepare to have fun while expanding your knowledge of the world!

Since the craft of handbell ringing is still in its early years, respect is something to be earned. Recently this group, of which I am a member, was invited to perform with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for their Holiday Pops series. This is credit to the hard work and professionalism displayed and embodied by our organization. I carry the same philosophy into the ensembles that I direct outside of this group. I am available for consulting and program development, as well as group and individual instruction.
