Turn your raw talent into star quality!
Learn how to sing like a Broadway star from a musical theater performer of 15 years of professional experience on stage!
I place high emphasis on healthy technique, finding connection to the material and the development of the voice in range, clarity and power. I prepare the student to succeed in an audition setting using very practical steps to building confidence, as well as an audition book full of “audition ready cuts”.
A typical lesson would begin with a thorough vocal warm up that is meant to develop vocal range, power and clarity of tone. Proper breathing and resonation techniques are taught throughout the warm ups. Depending on the needs of the student, the latter part of the coaching would focus on current or new song repertoire.
This is an open level class as I can cater the teaching style to the student's needs. I believe in positive, constructive feedback and endeavor to bring the star presence out in all of my students! I teach that singing should be done in a passionate and honest way. I give high emphasis to healthy techniques in order to protect the vocal chords and enable students to perform 8 shows a week in a consistent way. Learning to connect with the piece and act through it is one of my focus areas. I endeavor to bring the performance aspect out in every piece! My background is in musical theatre but as that spans all genres and vocal styles, I can cater the lesson to the student's personal style preferences and goals.

I have been a musical theater performer for 15 years and have performed regionally, all over the country and on Broadway.
I began teaching full time two and a half years ago and offer private and group lessons in voice, acting, dance, audition prep and yoga. I focus on healthy vocal technique and honest storytelling through singing.
I have a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Musical Theater from the University of Florida. I also have two teaching certifications, one of which is a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification. I attained it at One Yoga School in Kho Pha-ngan, Thailand. I specialize in Vinyassa and Hatha Yoga.
I hold high expectations for my students regarding their work ethic and lesson preparation. I endeavor to give positive, constructive critique through the lens of encouragement.

My daughter tried several voice teachers before finding Marisa, and we feel so lucky to have found her - she is amazing! She gives excellent constructive feedback and is very encouraging, warm, and positive. My daughter has always loved to sing, but she loves it even more now because she feels more powerful and confident, and she knows how much she has grown and improved. I’ve considered trying to find an in-person teacher now that my family is back doing things in-person as we were doing pre-pandemic, but honestly, I don’t know if we’ll find one as great as Marisa, so we are very happily continuing with her!

My daughter has been taking private voice and various group (acting, singing, dance) lessons with Marisa for a year. Marisa's instruction has been an absolute blessing! Our daughter struggled with prior school music teachers not explaining things or being overly negative or simply not giving proper instruction. Marisa's instruction is comprehensive and well-rounded, and she takes the time to fully explain/discuss topics when needed. Marisa has so much knowledge she is willing to share and supports my daughter with all her questions/concerns. I appreciate constructive feedback, and as a result, my daughter both expects and respects feedback. Marisa knows exactly how to be supportive and encouraging while delivering the perfect amount of constructive feedback. She doesn't miss an opportunity for a teaching moment but at the same time, never overwhelms. My daughter just completed her first main stage show and I felt so prepared with everything Marisa had taught her (and me!) about audition books and headshots and resumes and the whole audition process! I am so grateful that we found Marisa and that my daughter has such and wonderful and talented mentor.

When our 14-year-old daughter started to show interest in music and theatre, I began searching for someone who could teach voice lessons and acting lessons. In addition, we needed someone who could be versatile in voice lessons for theatre and choir. Luckily I found Marisa online. My daughter's been with her for nearly a year now. Marisa is always positive. After every lesson, my daughter is excited and optimistic about her abilities. My daughter has shied away from auditioning for primary roles in the past. However, since she's worked with Marisa, her confidence has grown. In the time she's been taking lessons, my daughter's had the opportunity to audition for two musicals, one Shakespearean play, and her high school choir(along with solo opportunities within the choir). After lessons with Marisa, she's been cast in a prominent supporting role in a musical, ensemble for the other musical, a prominent supporting role in the Shakespearean play, and has been invited to join the choir and chosen for solos in choir. Marisa's instruction and guidance have made all the difference for my daughter.
