Opera Voice with Marcus L.

I am a professional singer and actor. I recently received my Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the University of Houston. I also have a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Students of mine can expect weekly improvement by securing a technical foundation and applying it to repertoire. My Master's coursework included study of Vocal Pedagogy, which has provided me with an extensive understanding of the vocal mechanism that can be applied to singing in all genres. Throughout my many years of studies, I have been blessed to have teachers that have guided me in my vocal development, performance skills, and teaching. With every lesson, I strive to do the same with my own students. Singing has provided me with the experience of performing across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Though I primarily perform Musical Theater and Opera, I love exploring various genres. Beyond singing, I can guide students in music theory, sight reading, and basic piano skills to become a more well-rounded musician. If you wish to explore music in a foreign language, I have experience singing in many different languages (Italian, German, French, Russian, Spanish, Norwegian, and Danish) and can help you utilize the International Phonetic Alphabet. Witnessing my students grow and discover their full potential gives me immense joy. I hope that we can share in that joy together and create beautiful music!
