    About Marco G.

My name is Marco and I have been playing the trombone for 10 years now. I am in my third year of undergraduate bass trombone studies at The Juilliard School, focusing on classical/orchestral performance. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and have lived mostly in Miami, Florida. Although my education largely revolves around classical training, I have performed in musicals, big bands, jazz combos, small rock groups, brass ensembles, salsa groups among other things. I play the bass trombone as my primary focus, although I have played a few performances on tuba and euphonium through my time playing, and started out by playing the tenor trombone, having switched to bass as a focus four years ago. Within my past two years at Juilliard, I have had the privilege to play as a substitute with the Metropolitan Opera, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and the Montclair Orchestra as well as performances alongside ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, solo pianist Denis Matsuev, and solo clarinetist Sabine Meyer among others. This past summer completed my second summer as part of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra Academy, having played concerts in cities across Germany’s northernmost region, as well as Berlin. Besides playing music, I study German privately and at the Goethe Institut, I enjoy getting to know the food and culinary scene in New York City, as well as take trains out of the city to find new hikes on free weekends. I also enjoy having conversations just about anything, and have best gotten along with my professors who are talkative and like telling stories. My biggest goals in music are to play in a professional symphony orchestra, as well as engage in other performance opportunities involving other types of music and performances on the side. My biggest goals for a student are their biggest goals, and I am especially open to new interests and challenges in students!
