Discover more about music with music theory lessons from an expert
I've been studying music theory for six years, and I've been a music theory tutor for three years. I currently study music theory pedagogy at the Peabody Institute, and I am a graduate assistant for the music theory department. Music theory is a mathematical approach to music, and can successfully be taught to every type of learner. I have experience teaching student just beginning, studying musical form, counterpoint, atonality, and ear training. Music theory can be abstract, but it improves the understanding and appreciation of music to a listener, composer, and performer.
About Madeline H.

Hello! I'm Madeline, and I'm a vocal director, vocal instructor, beginner-piano teacher, and music theory tutor. I love introducing students to new repertoire, showing them a different way of looking at concepts, and helping students realize how smart and talented they are. I want my students to feel prepared for where their love of music takes them, and we are absolutely going to have fun while learning. I'm excited that you are interested in learning, too, and I cannot wait to hear from you.

Madeline is an incredible piano teacher to my elementary-age daughter. She is engaging, patient and strikes the perfect balance between instruction and having fun. I've seen my daughter vastly improve in her piano playing and confidence. We are all very thankful for Madeline to share her talents with our family.

Madeline is AMAZING!! I started working with her during covid times and even over zoom she was able to help me improve so much! She has such a talent for figuring what you need to improve and helping you to make that improvement making whatever your working on 10 times better (which has helped me achieve things I never thought I’d be able to do). She also makes the lesson very fun and catered to your needs/wants. 110% recommend!

Madeline is DA BEST! Ever since the first time I’ve worked with Madeline which was when she vocal directed for my schools musical, I knew she was legit. Getting to take some one on one lessons with her was the best decision I ever made. She has pushed me and helped me grow my vocal abilities in ways that I could not have done on my own. I can sometimes get self conscious about my voice, but Madeline makes her lessons such a safe space for you to try new things and experiment without feeling like you have to hold back. She is such an amazing instructor and I give her an 11/10!!
