Learn to play the flute with a world-class instructor.
For your first flute lesson, please bring your flute, a music stand, and a love for music! We will begin by quickly talking through your goals and reasons for learning flute, as that informs my approach to your individual lessons. I emphasize a strong foundation in beautiful tone, technique, intonation, rhythm, and most importantly, the ability to communicate with musical phrasing. We can work on anything from learning how to produce a sound and mastering your scales, to preparing for auditions and performance skills. No need to bring sheet music if you don't know what to work on yet - I'll provide music and repertoire suggestions!

Hi, my name is Lucy and I'm a professional flutist and music educator based in the Chicago area! I've been teaching flute privately and in schools since 2010, and graduated with my Master's degree in Flute Performance from Northwestern University, and my Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance with a minor in Music Education from McGill University. Currently I play professionally in the Dubuque Symphony, freelance in symphonies in the area like the Milwaukee Symphony, and maintain a private flute studio. I have taught students from ages 6 - 85, so it's never a bad time to experience the joy of learning flute :).
