Hello! My name is Lucas and I am a very smart guy who is also nice. I have years of experience teaching and have an enthusiastic passion for it. *** Travel Equipment *** I would provide my own instruments, instrument stands, music stands, music paper and writing materials. I would expect/prefer students to provide their own instruments and musical listening equipment (CD player, iPod, etc) *** Specialties *** I can teach a wide range of styles including but not limited to rock, jazz, blues, funk, classical, country, and different 'world' music styles. Some examples are Latin/salsa and African guitar and percussion. I also specialize in teaching musical improvisation, songwriting, composition, and production. I use student-specific musical instruction texts and programs to cater to each individual students needs. I have experience teaching improvisation using creative methods that involve group participation and improvisation, both with voice and instruments.

Lucas is the rarest kind of teacher; the special kind who can turn a student's confused babble into a clear question with a definite answer. I signed up for music theory lessons after writing a lesson plan on Stravinsky's The Rites of Spring (I am a teacher myself) and realizing as I did that I actually had only the vaguest idea what I was talking about as I informed my students that a riot occurred on opening night back in 1913 because Stravinsky build the music on tritones, creating weird chord progressions that built a tension that was never fully resolved because the chord that came where the tension should release was close enough to tease but not close enough to fully resolve that tension. Believe it or not, that is why I decided to take lessons in music theory. I would have driven any teacher but Lucas crazy. If you want to know something about music theory but can't say exactly what, Lucas is your best bet.
