Hi there! My name is Lisa and I'm a professional bassist, composer and touring artist, working in the field of jazz/improvised music as well as in popular/contemporary music. I have 10+ years of teaching experience and hold a master’s degree in both music pedagogy and music performance from Bern University of the Arts, Switzerland.
Over the years I have been teaching bass students of all ages and levels, from absolute beginners to advanced instrumentalists, from ages 6-60+. I find joy in
helping all of my students defining and reaching their goals and experiencing the fun in playing music.
Some of my main goals in music teaching are:
- developing a realistic and satisfying practice routine
- reaching a deeper understanding of the instrument through connecting imagination/pre-hearing and movement
- working on rhythm and time, exploring the role of the bass in the rhythm section (and in music generally)
- playing with bow, strengthening the left hand, control of intonation and classical repertoire
- understanding and playing with chord symbols, practical music theory
- improvisation – solos over chord progressions, over pedals, with or without accompaniment, extended technique and free improvisation
- sight-reading
- the ability of transcribing music (and having a lot of fun!)
- discovering jazz, blues, folk, improvisation, indie rock, R’n’B, singer/songwriter, classical repertoire and much more!

Lisa is the best!!! I came to her as a complete beginner, having tried both guitar and piano but always having been drawn to electric & upright bass, and a bit daunted on how to jump in. She was the perfect person to start with - warm, supportive, and encouraging. She is a super badass musician and the way she plays is inspiring! But more importantly, she knows how to make whatever we're learning interesting and fun. From Peter Gabriel songs to Pink Floyd to Gershwin, I can't recommend her enough.

Lisa has given me a better insight on the double bass and how to physically approach the instrument in a healthy way. Furthermore her creativity and fun with music has been a great push to expand my creativity through the instrument. I would definitely recommend lessons with her as she provides you with a strong foundation.
