I'm Lindsey P. I am an upbeat, dedicated and enthusiastic musician. I am passionate about helping you to reach your goals, and healthfully achieve your most beautiful sound. I can't wait to work with you! ARTIST BIOGRAPHY California native, Lindsey P., is currently in pursuit of her Masters Degree in Opera Performance at the University of Texas at Austin where she studies with master teacher, David Small. She received her Bachelors Degree in Vocal Performance at San Diego State University in 2014. She also has a strong background in Vocal Jazz, Pop, and Musical Theatre. Recently, Ms. P. was selected as the winner of the San Diego State Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist under Dana Zimbric with the SDSU Symphony Orchestra in March of 2013. She sang a set of songs by prominent contemporary composer, Libby Larsen. The text from Songs From Letters was taken from letters written by Calamity Jane to her daughter. Ms. P. was the 2nd place winner in her division of the San Diego National Association of Teachers of Singing 2013 and 2014 Student Auditions. In the summer of 2011, Ms. P. attended the prestigious young artist program Si Parla, Si Canta in Urbania, Italy where she studied italian and opera performance with Benton Hess, Hugh Murphy, Robert Cowart, and others. She is also a fluent Italian speaker. Ms. P. often sings with the professional choir SACRA/PROFANA in San Diego under the direction of Krishan Oberoi. 25 year old Ms. P., is an active member is the student chapters of Students of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and The American Choral Directors Association. She is also a recognized voice teacher in San Diego and Austin working with children, teens, and adults. She has performed roles such as Casilda from The Gondoliers, 2nd Lady from The Magic Flute, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and Maria Von Trapp from The Sound of Music. *** Lesson Details *** I begin each lesson with vocal exercises. Then we will move on to music theory, sight singing and musician ship. The last segment of our lesson will be devoted to repertoire study. To get the most out of lessons with me I recommend at least an hour of practice outside of lessons each week. I use a variety of different song books for my students depending on their voice type, age and preferred genre of study. After 6 months with me students can expect to understand basic singing technique and be seeing a significant change in their sound. Students who choose to incorporate musicianship/theory/sight singing into lessons with me can expect, at minimum, to understand how to read music, basic music notation, note names, key signatures, time signatures, rhythm, solfege syllables, major and minor scales, and basic harmonic relationships. Singing is a physical and full-bodied experience, so be ready to move and be silly with me sometimes. The voice is different than any other instrument because we don'™t have strings, buttons, or valves to press to help us achieve the right sound. Our instrument is inside our bodies. The voice is a very complicated instrument, and thus, in my opinion, is much more rewarding than many other instruments to master. Please come to my lessons planning to work hard and have fun! *** Studio Equipment *** Keyboard repertoire books, and seating for parents or other respectful observers *** Travel Equipment *** I expect my student to be able to provide a piano or weighted keyboard with a bench for me. I provide a mirror, music, and a CD player if necessary. *** Specialties *** I specialize in classical voice training and believe this style of singing to be an imperative source of proper singing and breathing technique that can be used to train singers of all genres.

Lindsey is an encouraging, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and talented singing teacher and performer! Before Lindsey relocated to Texas, I took lessons with her for about 10 months. I always loved singing, but I never took any private lessons until I discovered Lindsey on takelessons. After a few months learning from Lindsey, I was able to widen my range, correct my breathing techniques, and learn the fundamentals of harmony and sight singing. Lindsey’s lessons were always fun and informative. She also gave me the confidence to audition for a Vocal Ensemble. After several weeks of audition preparation with Lindsey, I surprisingly made it into the group! If you are looking for a fun and educated singing teacher, Lindsey is for you!
