I am a Bronx native professional opera-singer that has been studying singing for 10 years and playing piano since the age of 7. I have been teaching both voice and beginner to intermediate piano to all ages for five years throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens. My voice and piano lessons focus on developing a healthy technique, learning how to sight read, music theory, breathing exercises, acting, and having fun. I teach all genres and can help with audition preparation. My credits include getting students into competitive music schools including Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and Talent Unlimited High School.
About Linda C.

Audiences throughout the U.S. have heard Ecuadorian and Puerto-Rican Mezzo-Soprano Linda at venues including Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, Lincoln Center, the United Palace Theater, and Repertorio Español, as well as in theaters throughout Europe. Described as having a voice that is “elastic and luxurious…” (Ars Raving Mad), Linda began her 2019/2020 season as a featured soloist with the Astoria Music Project and the Harrison Friends of the Opera in concerts showcasing compositions by women of color and Italian classics. Linda also prepared for the role of Zita in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi with the Queens College Opera Theater before the performance was cancelled due to COVID-19. Despite the pandemic, Linda got to do online performances with Sunday Serenades, the Bronx Arts Ensemble's #StayHome Concert Series, the Christman Opera Company, and the New Camerata Opera Company. Her most recent live performance was with the New Camerata Opera company in Masquerade, a socially-distanced and masked concert where she got to sing works from Carmen and The Tales of Hoffman. Linda has made appearances with the New York Lyric Opera Theater in roles including 3rd Spirit in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, and as an understudy of Hansel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel at the Marc A. Scorca Hall at Opera America. She was also the cover for the role of Meg Page in Verdi's Falstaff and the role of Orlofsky in Strauss II's Die Fledermaus with Martina Arroyo's Prelude to Performance in the Summers of 2018 and 2019. In the Winter of 2019, Linda was an Apprentice Artist at Sarasota Opera singing the role of the Solo Handmaiden in Puccini's Turandot. That same year she also went on to sing the role of María Magdalena in El Caminante de Nazaret, a new opera by Rafael Grullon, with the Mimesis Ensemble, was the mezzo-soprano soloist in Ben Yamolinsky's The Constitution with the Vertical Player Repertory Theater, and sang the roles of Vera Boronel and the Café Singer in Menotti's The Consul with Encompass New Opera Theater. The roles that Linda performed with the Queens College Opera Theater and Arts Festival include Orlofsky, Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, and Dinah in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti. Linda made her Italian operatic debut as La Cesca in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi with Si parla, si canta and Centro Studi Italiani in 2017. In addition to her operatic career, Linda has also showcased her vocal versatility in her concert and recital work. She has performed as a soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Alma Dei Creatoris and Requiem, Frank London’s 1001 Voices, Bernstein’s Songfest and Symphony no. 1: Jeremiah, and Handel’s Messiah with various orchestras and ensembles throughout New York City. Linda has also performed in recitals and galas showcasing Spanish opera, zarzuela, art song, popular song, and baroque music with the Mimesis Ensemble, Cantanti Project, Voces Unidas, The Vertical Player Repertory Theater, and with pianist Pablo Zinger, who is recognized by Opera News as the “King of Zarzuela.” She recently performed in a concert showcasing all women composers at BAM Fisher with the Brooklyn Metro Chamber Orchestra. Her recent awards include the Guida-LaCamera Encouragement Award from the Connecticut District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, first prize in the Friday Woodmere Music Club’s Young Artist Competition and first prize in the Bronx Arts Ensemble Young Artist Competition. Linda received her Bachelor of Music from The Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Linda was a CUNY Macaulay Honors Scholar, Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation Scholar, and the recipient of several prestigious awards including the Jane and Paul Smaldone Memorial Scholarship, the Helene B. Giudice Award, the Erik Horlick Memorial Award, and The Claire Bartels Freshman Award. In 2021, Linda will be singing as the mezzo-soprano soloist in a reprise of Ben Yarmolinsky's The Constitution with the Vertical Player Repertory Theater. She will also perform in an outreach concert with The Metropolitan Opera Guild in conjunction with the All Stars Project. Finally, in her spare time, Linda enjoys giving back to her community in the South Bronx by teaching voice and piano in her private studio. Linda is credited with helping students get into competitive music schools including Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and Talent Unlimited High School. She also holds Teaching Artist positions at the Professional Performance Arts School (PPAS) in Manhattan and at The Point C.D.C. in Hunts Point in the Bronx.

My experience with Linda was great! I’ve only had one lesson with her but she was patient and understanding even though I was super nervous. She pushed me to do more and I’ve become more confident. I look forward to continue working with her :)

Linda is very dedicated teacher. I felt that she really listened to my voice and quickly charted a path forward to develop my technique, musicality, and most importantly a self awareness of pitch in my body.
