Learn how to bring your creative designs to life with the Queen of fashion creativity!

Fashion Design (with Freehand skills) is the art of sketching, drafting, cutting and making a garment to fit any body size without the need for a commercial pattern. In freehand drafting, specific measurements are taken directly from the body and drafted on muslin or on the fashion fabric. Seam allowances and other intakes, depending on the style, are added to these measurements before cutting. After all pieces have been cut, various foundational sewing skills which must be acquired prior to attempting freehand sewing, are applied step-by-step in completing the garment. This is similar to Pattern Making and Construction. ** You can register for 10hrs (600mins) 2hrs a week for 5weeks and make custom clothes.

About Lily Q.

I am a Fashion Designer/Instructor and former Social Worker, who's very passionate about teaching Fashion and Embroidery. I'm always excited about helping students build skills gradually, from a complete Beginner, through Advanced levels. Also, I am one of the few teachers in the country who teaches the exclusive "Freehand" Drafting and sewing (i.e. sewing without commercial pattern). I also teach sewing with pattern. As a social worker, I taught participants in a homeless shelter, how to make various items geared towards independent living. For 11years now, I've been teaching in the tri-state area where patrons sign up for group sewing lessons as well as private lessons. I teach Garment cutting and construction, Pattern drafting, Alterations, Home décor items, and various sewing projects. With patience, I guide students to create a Scrapbook. This is a Binder full of samples, that capture important sewing skills for future reference. I am happy to help you navigate your sewing aspirations and goals when you register. Thanks.
