I am a recent graduate of Northwestern University, where I received my Masters Degree in Vocal Performance. My graduate assistantship at Northwestern consisted of teaching private lessons to non-music majors. I taught about 20 students, mainly freshmen and sophomores, over two years. I also taught a freshman practicum voice class as part of my graduate assistantship. I am passionate about teaching, as it brings me great joy to watch a student grow and take ownership of his or her own instrument. I am comfortable teaching repertoire from classical to musical theater to pop/jazz. I have a background in musical theater and classical music, and sing standard golden-age jazz and Broadway tunes daily through my work with the Songs by Heart Foundation. I also sing in the Chicago Area as an associate member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus, Opera for the Young, and Petite Opera.

Liana is super sweet and patient. If you're not getting a technique right away she'll take the time to explain it different ways to help you understand. She always has a positive attitude and she doesn't let any personal issues negatively affect her work. She focuses on working on what you're interested in rather than forcing her interests upon you. She's very encouraging and reminds you of how much progress you're making and I feel like I improved/learned a lot from her!

Liana is good at giving constructive, specific feedback. She listened to my goals and helped both tailor my lessons to my goals and build a portfolio with her own music suggestions. She has a vide variety of techniques and approaches. Fantastic and kind!!!
