New Blog by Me on buying your first ukulele: http://takelessons.com/blog/buying-a-ukulele
I'm Laurie, a very passionate ukulele singer, guide, and artist since 2008. I honor each person's unique style and interest. I'm not teaching lessons just so people can perform, but so they can create a special bond with their instruments and canvases and their own style. We are all unique in how we create...so I want to watch that unfold. I'll go over all the basics and then we'll have fun! Each lesson will be a new experience and I will be allowing the student to guide and teach me ~ it's a team effort!
I LOVE children and have a background teaching Music Together classes as well as nannying my niece who was born with special needs. Depending on the needs, I would love to make myself available as I feel music is the best therapy for all of us.
I also offer sound healing sessions, on this site it is called Music Therapy. I own a few therapeutic instruments ~ a singing bowl, a reverie harp (anyone can play), drums, shakers, and a native american flute. I like to let these sessions have a life of their own so I do not plan...however we will use all the instruments so the person can feel the differences that each sound gives them.
I am in a wheelchair so traveling to other homes can be an issue if it is hard for me to get inside. I prefer to meet in accessible areas, open my home, or do lessons online when I am traveling. I want to be as available to you as I possible can! I'm excited! HOORAY
Let's JAM and have FUN!
I have performed in various groups as a singer and ukulele player from CT and now in Florida. I'm open to many styles and jams
I taught and lead Music Together classes with families and children aged from 1-5. I also taught classes at preschool and kindergarten classes.
I am currently in the level one training to become a Soul Art Guide. This work is a deep exploration of consciousness and our inner world through creative expression.
From the website:
"Soul Art is a sacred journey of discovering and embodying your creative spiritual mastery.
People are called to Soul Art for different reasons. Some come to this work because they want to heal long-standing, stubborn issues. Others come to this work because they know they have brilliant art within them; they just don’t know how to get it out. Some people are drawn to Soul Art because they want to support the global shift on our planet and they want to harness their ability as a Healer to serve the world. Many people feel the magnetic pull to Soul Art because they've known forever that they were born for a specific reason and they can’t wait a moment longer before committing to its realization. And, there are some who enter the practice of Soul Art because they don’t know who they are and what they are supposed to do but they deeply, deeply want to find out. They have the intuitive sense that Soul Art will help them uncover their true path and purpose (wise!).
Soul Art calls people from around the world to feel the one true unifying desire that we all have: the desire to tap into our own creative spiritual mastery and let it become a sacred gift to the world."
I attended the teacher training and received my certificate at the international headquarters in NJ
· Songwriting · In studio I am fortunate to have performed alongside Laurie at a local market in Downtown Orlando (Market at Mills 50). During this time I learned so much on how to perform and entertain. Laurie is a beacon of light and her presence is so heartfelt. I highly recommend booking at least ONE lesson with Laurie and you will quickly see how much she cares and how much VALUE she has to offer anyone wanting to grow :)
· Abstract Painting · Online Laurie has created a wonderfully planned series of lessons and I am very happy I signed up for them. She is very helpful. The lessons give you more insight into your own creativity.
· Ukulele · In studio I bought my 9 year old son a ukulele on a whim. He had never picked up an instrument before. Laurie is so patient and fun and goes at his pace but continues to challenge him. In just a few short lessons, he has learned SO MUCH from her already and looks forward to his weekly lessons. I highly recommend her!!
· Ukulele · In home My 10 year old daughter is making great progress due to Laurie's enthusiastic and nurturing attitude. She is patient, kind, encouraging and very professional, always wanting my daughter to get the very most out of each visit. We are very happy to have found Laurie!
