I've had a lifelong love of music, nurtured in part by my own childhood music study. In addition to teaching private lessons, I teach music at a K-8th grade school, and I'm a singer-songwriter who has performed in various venues around the L.A. area.
For my music education training, I completed levels 1 and 2 of Orff Schulwerk at Cal State L.A. Often called elemental music education, Orff Schulwerk is an approach to music education that includes movement, drama, speech, and a lot of student improvisation and composition. I also completed early childhood music education training through KinderMusik.
I am a patient, perceptive person, and I love to figure out what makes children tick so I can connect them to music through their own interests and personality. I'd love to help your child realize their musical goals. And if you're an adult who's looking to try a new instrument, brush up, or learn to write songs, I would be happy to work with you as well.

Lauren has been working with my daughter who is 10 and just learning piano and vocals.
She is always on time. Lauren has great techniques she used for instruction.
Lauren is great!! My daughter is learning so much from her.
If you're trying to build a love of music in your child alongside the theory and practice of piano, Lauren is an excellent choice. She's gentle and fun, and will construct lessons that appeal to your child.
Lauren has been wonderful in developing our twin girls music abilities.
When teaching the lesson, she uses various learning methods and not necessarily the same one for both girls. She treats each student as an individual. Each week the girls are excited to show her what they've learned.
The girls like that she's patient and a listener. What's unique about Lauren is that because she's a vocalist she at times will use her voice to help guide them through difficult piano material. The girls love her voice!
Teaching the girls to take ownership of how the song should be played is very important in her lessons. Lauren is not worried about an accidentally misplaced note. She has the girls focus on how the music should sound. It's not about rushing through a song to prove that you know it. It's about how it should sound and how it makes you feel.
Learning to appreciate music is so important and when one of my daughters said, "The most difficult songs end up becoming my most favorite songs to play,"I knew that we had the right teacher.
Lauren is the best!! She really connects with her students and has just the right touch. Both of my boys felt comfortable with her immediately! And they learned so much in such a short amount of time. Thanks Lauren!!
We are thrilled to have Ms. Lauren teaching piano to our kids. She relates to them on their level yet has a firm guiding hand. They love her! She gives them encouragement and makes the lessons fun. Truly a wonderfully talented musician.
Lauren and I are teacher collaborators in an award-winning charter school's music program. She is an outstanding musician and teacher with the ability to work enjoyably and effectively with students of all ages. I recommend her most highly!
