This course focused on the basic principles and types of public communication with special emphasis on platform techniques. The student will be able to develop and demonstrate his organizational and communication skills through the preparation and delivery of short speeches focused on various skills as well as entire speeches to inform and to persuade.

My name is Lauren.  I am 24 years old and a recent graduate from Bob Jones University with a Master's Degree in Theater Arts.  For the past two years of graduate school, I have also taught freshman speech at the university.  I am a dynamic communicator with demonstrated capabilities in the dramatic arts and I am committed to being an effective teacher.

Lauren is an amazing teacher!! She taught me speech my second semester of freshman year. Having her teach is a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. She taught the concepts in such a fun way it never seemed like I was actually learning, while the entire time the concepts were being drilled into my head. She also lives what she teaches. I saw her play the female lead in a play called Risk, which she also co-produced, and while the part was quite hard, she embodied the character perfectly and was a very believable character. She also was in our university's production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, and she made her character so hilarious I cried laughing many times that night. She also genuinely cares for her students and will never stop to talk about life with them. She truly is an amazing teacher to study under!
