Hey there! My name is Ky, I've been teaching privately for about 5 years and joined teaching with Austin City Lessons in May of 2022. When I'm not teaching, I'm performing all around the Austin Texas area in a band called Let Flo Go. I've taken multiple courses in vocal techniques (that's how you should and shouldn't sing), and to test out my skills, I've played over 200 shows in multiple states. When learning how to sing, we will learn the healthiest way to maintain and grow your voice. I also work with those that struggle with pitch, maintaining a note, or going off key. Doing things such as breathing exercises, tongue twisters for pronunciation, plugging your nose, and talking like a witch, are all things we work on to create the best voice that you are capable of having. If you are taking lessons, I recommend practicing at least 3-4 times a week to maintain your growth. This prevents the repetition of lessons and is needed for your singing abilities to improve. While I focus on teaching vocally, I am open to anyone that would like to learn how to play ukulele or guitar as they sing. I teach basic rhythm, chord structures, strumming patterns, etc. I'm currently taking piano lessons, so maybe in a little, I can add that to my teaching skills as well. I focus my lessons on my student, I've learned how to say one thing in many different ways because we all learn differently! Music is my greatest passion and when I teach I hope that it is shared and creates an environment where you want to practice and learn more about the musical entity that you are!
