I began piano lessons at age 8, and joined choir at age 10. I have played orchestral instruments since the age of 11, and have continued my musical education for over 20 years. I have had a lot of performing experience, as well as teaching experience. After playing with my collegiate symphonies and bands, I taught in the public school system for 7 years. I have continued to teach music lessons from 2000.
As a former public school orchestra teacher, I specialize in public school methods, and the repertoire associated with progressing in in the school system. This includes classical music, Jazz, Rock, and Pop. While I follow the Bastien method for beginner piano students, and Essential Elements 2000 for beginner string students, I am creative with expanding repertoire based on student desires and needs and am able to help students excel in other genres as well.
*** Lesson Details ***
As your private teacher, I can promise you an enjoyable and very rewarding experience - smiles are guaranteed! My number one goal for each of my students is to foster confidence in one's self and one's abilities, and to grow one's skills in and passion for music. As I appreciate and expect that each student's goals and interests in music will be different, I approach each student and their lessons accordingly. Whether my students are young or old, I focus on addressing student needs.

Kirsten is amazing and has taken Shayla's voice to a whole new level, with control and quality. She is able to do things with her singing voice she didn't think was possible. We have been working with her for a couple of years and highly recommend her. When we moved down south we stayed with her even though it meant driving 45-50 minutes.
Kirsten is the best!!
Kirsten is a great teacher . Kirsten has taught me to do things with my voice I never thought were possible .She has a wide range of knowledge in music ( everything from pop to rock and in between ) and a great vibe that sets her apart from the rest .
