Piano with Kevin K.

Kevin received his Bachelor of Music degree from New England Conservatory. He has been playing the piano since the age of five and received awards in competitions, including a gold prize in Korea National-Level Sonatina Competition at the age of nine, and first place in Certificate of Merit Sonata Festival Competition in 2009. He has also appeared as a soloist, playing a piano concerto with a live orchestra in his youth. As a violinist, he has performed with Youth Engedi, a nine-member string ensemble, in various venues like John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. As a composer, one of his orchestral compositions "Soaring Over the Vast Expanse" was premiered in front of an audience of over nine-thousand by Boston Landmarks Orchestra at an outdoor concert at Hatch Shell, Boston. Kevin has a deep passion for teaching, volunteering as an English and math tutor at a local elementary school and teaching piano and violin privately since the beginning of his college years. Discovering his desire to be in a helping profession, Kevin is currently a post-baccalaureate pre-medical student, at San Diego State University, hoping to become a medical doctor. Kevin also volunteers to play the piano at a local hospital, once every week, for the guests who are waiting for their loved ones to finish surgery. Even though I am fully capable of teaching piano at a high standards, I know that many of my students are not seeking to become the next greatest concert pianist of the century. Since I was little, I played the piano out of love. My most important mission as a teacher is to spread that love of piano and hope that the piano will always be an enjoyment in my students' lives. I can teach piano, chord piano, composition, music theory, and violin.
