Learn the Foundations of Music and Piano with Experienced Teacher

Hey there! My name is Kendra and I'm a Boston-based singer and music teacher. I students ranging from five to ninety-five in voice, piano, and guitar. I have a Bachelor's degree in Voice from Oklahoma City University, and a Master of Music degree in Historical Performance from the Longy School of Music. I strive to use my knowledge of vocal pedagogy to help students develop healthy technique, while exploring a variety of musical styles. I believe all students should understand practical aspects of music, while also exploring their own interpretation of a piece. Music lessons are a means to build social skills, fine and gross motor skills, work ethic, confidence, and a greater appreciation of the arts. Here's what you can expect from lessons: All Lessons Include: -Music Reading and Music Theory; including notes in multiple clefs, rhythm, and expressive markings. All students will practice Sight-Reading or Sight-Singing in the lessons, until they are able to practice effectively on their own. -Technical Exercises to practice weekly; age and technically appropriate exercises to help master physical and mental execution of the instrument. -Repertoire Selection; the student and I will choose songs that help their musical development and explore several genres of music. Lessons often cover a wide range of musical styles; such as Classical, Musical Theater, and Contemporary music. -Audition Prep and Performance Skills; students are welcome to bring any audition materials to lessons to be rehearsed. Students will also learn how to prepare music, manage performance anxiety, and showcase their personalities in the audition room. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

    About Kendra C.

Hey there! My name is Kendra and I am a vocalist and teacher based in Boston. I perform a wide variety of Classical and Contemporary repertoire, but am especially passionate about singing Early Music. Some of my recent engagements include performances with the Cambridge Chamber Ensemble, the Boston Camerata, Piccola Opera Concordia Consort, Ensemble 44 and the BEMF Fringe Series. I have a BA in Voice from Oklahoma City University and a MM in Historical Performance at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. In addition to performing, I have a private voice studio and teach voice, piano, and guitar at Music 101 Studios in Melrose, MA. As a teacher, I strive to encourage healthy vocal development, confidence, and the musical skills for my students to be independent musicians. Furthermore, through my teaching I spark curiosity in younger generations about artists of the past and how they can express their own art. Feel free to reach out with any questions or if you would like to set up a lesson!
