I am a 1991 graduate of Tallinn Conservatory in Tallinn, Estonia, where I studied music education, child psychology, choir conducting and voice. While a student, I gained experience as a choir conductor-associate and concert administrator for Tallinn Philharmonic Society. I managed music festivals of all kind and local and foreign musicians.
I arrived in San Francisco in 1992 for the Estonian Mixed Choir. I conducted the choir and was an accordionist for Estonian folk dancers until 1995. I enjoyed playing the accordion with ALSI (Accordion Lovers Society International) Ensemble in San Diego (also produced a CD recording with them).
I give private instruction in piano, accordion and choir conducting.
I also sing and have produced recordings with several classical vocal groups in San Diego: Cappella Gloriana, Bach Collegium San Diego and ad hoc hire. In the past I've sang with San Diego Chamber Chorale, Pacific Camerata and Madonna Non Papa.
I am fluent in English, Estonian, Finnish, and bit of Russian.

· Piano · Fantastic!
We've used six different piano teachers in three different states --Katrin is definitely the very best. Highly recommended for children of any age -- our oldest is 18 and our youngest is 7.
· Piano · Highly recommended!
Miss Katrin has been coming to our home to teach piano to our 7 and 10 year olds for the past 2 years. From day 1 they have loved the experience. They are always excited about their upcoming lessons, and their motivation has lead to increasing daily practice time.
She has a good way in communicating with the children in a clear and patient manner, and they take what she says quite seriously. We can feel that the love is mutual as she clearly enjoys teaching and witnessing her students progress.
· Piano · Two thumbs up!
I inherited a piano at age 43 and with absolutely NO musical experience upon which to draw, started taking lessons with Katrin. Her enthusiasm for the subject, friendly and patient manner have kept me dedicated to my mission of mastering this instrument. It does not come easily or naturally for me but Katrin's charisma has kept me at it for more than three years. She is both my teacher and now my dear friend and I cannot recommend her enough.
· Piano · Best Piano Teacher!
Katrin has been teaching my children piano for over 3 years now. They are now 13 and 10. She is an absolutely fabulous teacher who makes learning piano fun. She has developed a great relationship with the children. I love her style of teaching. She makes sure that the children learn to play correctly teaching them theory and giving them a strong foundation. She is good at asking them questions to make sure that understand. If they get distracted she is firm and can redirect them quickly and kindly. She offers praise freely and joyfully with a nice sense of humor. I have a piano at my home so she comes to our house for lessons which is very convenient. If you are looking for a great piano teacher you will not be disappointed.
