I plan my lessons and create my own materials to fit each student's specific needs and goals. While learning an instrument is a worthy endeavor on its own, I also work with my students to hone important life and study skills that they can also apply to other aspects of their lives and education - not to mention having fun making music! Confidence, problem solving, and setting and working towards goals are just some of the skills I work to impart on my students.
About Katie S.

Hi I'm Katie! I'm a trombonist, music educator, and private teacher currently based in New Hampshire! I recently graduated summa cum laude from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford with my Master's of Music Degree in Trombone Performance. Before Hartt, I attended East Tennessee State University, where I earned my Bachelor's of Music Degree in Instrumental Music Education and my K-12 music teacher certification in 2019, also graduating summa cum laude. I'm a performing trombonist and music educator with many years of experience both performing and teaching music and related subjects. I'm also a certified K-12 music teacher and I have been working one-on-one with students for almost 10 years. I work with students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. I plan all my lessons and create/provide all the necessary materials to meet each individual student's needs, meeting each student where they are and helping them grow from there to achieve their goals. I specialize in brass instruction (trombone, euphonium, trumpet, and tuba) as well as music history, music theory, Praxis, and edTPA. Feel free to send me a message to schedule a lesson, ask any questions, or even just chat to see if we might be a good fit! :)

My 12 year old looks forward to his hour with Katie each week. He has developed more confidence and,.most importantly, enjoys playing more.
