    About Kay E.

Indeed as a kid, I was simply blown away as to how music showcases almost endless stimulating possibilities. This in terms of structure, different genres, discordance, harmony, tamber, melody and rhythm. For it would be these very profound attributes noticed back then that sustain me today. As a young aspiring musician, "universal" would be last words out of an poor observers mouth. This especially when describing my several attempts in playing speed metal on my sisters viola. It would be these sort of behaviors that summoned my father to buy his resourceful son a electric guitar and amp. The rest was history. A history plagued with disturbing reverberations along my parents bedroom walls and garage doors. This while placing a heavy burden on their pocket books in begging for new musical gear. I graduated from Berklee college of music in 2002. There, I studied Jazz guitar, music composition, theory and music business. In summing up my music post graduation past: I taught at K-12 schools and academy's, performed with various ensembles, did lots of solo performing, wrote and recorded in different projects, had been employed for studio work as well as owning and operating a guitar retail/academy business. I hope to do much more! This while sharing with you in the process. Feel free to contact me to open up the conversation further. Thank you for viewing this. Kay

    Experience

I worked as a teachers aide with the California Headstart program. This state funded program worked towards educating children of low income. Children (K-8) deemed "at risk youth" based on belonging to disadvantaged neighborhoods. This wonderfully eye opening experience allowed for a often hidden poignant reality. I offered aid to teachers that taught K-8 curriculum.

    The Guitar Bar

I was employed as a guitar instructor at a instrument retail/music school. This interesting well desired location sat in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. I had a wonderful experience while teaching guitar at the Guitar Bar. Indeed, my students were equally as wonderful. This most likely do to fact the guitar bar stood immersed in a prime historic location that oozed music and good energy.

This done by providing other services for a thankful demand. Services that include: the retail sale of rhythm section instruments and accessories, contracting teachers in offering instruction for Drums, Percussion, Upright Bass and instrument repair. I spent roughly five years in enjoying and building my school/shop. A time remembered with much happiness. I did allot of recording, composing, playing out, teaching, making new friends and certainly most important - providing a valuable service for the community.
