About Julia W.
With over 15 years of a performing arts background, I have been through the thick and thin of this business. My formal education began when I was seven years old, with the Carlsbad Strings Education Association. I continued to play violin in college at Humboldt State University. I then received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Studies. Besides classical music training, I have performed in many musical theatre shows and classes. I also perform and gig regularly in a local alternative rock band. Violin, bass, guitar, singing, acting and writing have always been my passions. Now it is time to inspire other hardworking individuals into pursuing their dreams too!
My music lessons usually consist of instrument knowledge, techniques, music theory, ear training and a little bit of music history as well. Each lesson will have a mix of different topics and exercises that pertain to what the student would like to learn. The topics listed above will intertwine with each other naturally, making each lesson more valuable.
Other lessons, such as acting, will be more customizable for the student. Depending on what the student would like to learn or improve on, will determine what kind of specific topic the lesson will focus on.
What ever route you decide on taking, remember that there is no wrong way. If you lose interest in a certain instrument or art, the skills you learned from practicing and playing will help you in any another performing art you choose. With that in mind, let's get learning!

*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide an extra guitar or bass (amplifier included) for lessons, as well as books and possible other materials (stand, tuner, music). Students should provide their own violins, violas, and staff paper for theory. They should also have access to a computer, as I like to record my lessons and send them the recordings for their solo practices.
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical music for violin and viola. For theatre, I excel in Broadway singing, staging, acting, and I can teach methods in public speaking as well. Bass guitar, electric guitar, and performing in the genre of rock music is another specialty of mine. I also have experience in songwriting and arranging songs using music theory and ear training.
