FOR IN PERSON LESSONS, PLEASE NOTE: I am out of town until mid-August. I am still happy to talk with you about setting up lessons! Just be aware that we will have to wait until I get back to start. :)
Hi! My name is Juli, and I love my job! My passion is helping people of all ages to develop a level of proficiency and confidence that will enable them to be lifelong lovers of music.
I have a B.A. in music education with an emphasis in vocal studies, and have been teaching choir, musical theatre, private voice, piano, guitar and ukulele for over 10 years.
I am fascinated by the range of learning styles and gifts of my students. I constantly strive to understand how my students learn best, and incorporate multi-sensory activities into our lessons to optimize retention and build a solid foundation.
I believe that the study of music is about much more than the music itself. It is a platform for developing skills that translate to many areas of life. I spend a good deal of time training my students how to evaluate and solve problems they run up against in practice. My hope is that they will come to believe that they can solve not only musical challenges, but other challenges as well. I also work with parents and students to encourage growth in self-discipline.
About twice a year I take my students to perform in local assisted living communities, both to get them involved in serving the community and to give them performance and public speaking experience.
Happily teaching private voice, piano, guitar and ukulele since 2008!
For eight years, it was my great privilege and delight to be the music director for a middle school theatre program. We performed such classics as The Music Man, Cinderella, and Bye Bye Birdie.
Worked with a competitive musical theatre team, teaching harmony, musicality, and healthy vocal technique
Directed numerous summer musical theatre camps, focusing on healthy vocal technique, production design, and stage presence, culminating in a performance at the end of the camp.
Directed three ensembles: a girls' chorus of 22, a mixed chorus of 45, and an orchestra of 28.
My Daughter had an awesome time learning how to play the ukulele, I thought it was going to be difficult considering it was on line, but once we had our camera to the laptop everything was great.
We clicked instantly with Juli and could not be happier with her as our new piano teacher. We are so looking forward to her teaching our two daughters. They just love her already. She is very relatable and makes piano fun!
My first lesson with Juli went well. Very knowledgeable on music theory and is enthusiastic about music in general. I had many questions that she answered. She was great don't hesitate to book a lesson.
Wonderful teacher, will listen and work with you 'till you're comfortable vocally in whatever project you're working on. I have been taking lessons from her for near a year now (online and off) and I couldn't recommend her enough to anyone needing/wanting training.
As a side note, she is also quite hilarious, a fantastic sense of humor is instilled in this woman.
Juli gets better and better at teaching me & meeting me right where I am!
Juli made me feel comfortable. She understood my personality and made a plan that fits my needs. I am a 53 year old woman, I learn fairly quickly and am so excited to work with Juli as I take this new journey in my life.
Very nice and good with children
Extremely happy with Juli! She's seriously awesome and it's obvious she's used to working with kids.
Juli is great with my 2 daughters. She is fun and silly yet knows how to teach a structured lesson
Juli is a wonderful teacher and has made learning the piano fun for both my 5 year old and me!
She's awesome. I like her very much. Good with kids. Recommend!
