ABOUT ME:
Juan Saldivar Jr, a native to Laredo, Tx, he began his college education at Texas A&M University of Kingsville (TAMUK). Where he had received scholarship fund to attend the university. While at TAMUK, he spent his time studying both tenor and bass trombone under the tutelage of Dr. Oscar Diaz. He was part of the TAMUK Trombone Choir, which was and still is considered the largest trombone choir in South Texas Region. He was also part of the South Texas Trombone Sound, a trombone octet which would tour across Texas and perform in festivals and conferences like the Big 12 Trombone Conference. Being a part of these ensembles, Juan many opportunities perform across the United States and Europe. Along with the traveling, began teaching privately in order to spread the wisdom he gain from his undergraduate studies. Soon after, Juan continued his music studies and obtained his Master of Music from the University of New Mexico on a full ride scholarship. While attending the university, Juan has had the opportunity to teach and perform around the community. Where he spread his teaching philosophy, "Any individual can grow musically and grow as human being with the guidance of a caring teacher." Juan continues to enlighten individual of all ages with the joy of making and teaching music in Texas, by teaching privately and as a band director in the Austin Area.
