Piano with Joy P.

I studied Music Education at Maranatha Baptist University with piano pedagogy track and choral track. During my sophomore year I began teaching at the Maranatha Piano Prep School. I taught one-on-one lessons and coached piano ensembles. I got a masters degree from Westminster Choir College (specializing in piano pedagogy and performance). I had the opportunity to study under Ingrid Clarfield. I taught students in one- on-one settings while I was working on this masters degree. I also got to work with a lady who had special needs which was really good experience. Currently, I am working on a doctorate at the University of Southern Mississippi (DMA- doctor of musical arts) specializing in piano performance. I am a graduate assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi in which my duties include teaching a section of class piano, teaching students privately, and doing collaborative piano work. I would like to gain more experience working with students who have special needs. I also have taught different ages of students. I had a piano student who was 4 and currently work with adult piano students. No matter what the student's age, musical background, and needs, he/she can expect to grow as a musician in an extremely encouraging lesson environment.
