I'm Joshua, a Pittsburgh based saxophonist that is comfortable with all styles of music. I've won solo competitions leading to concerto performances with orchestras, been featured on numerous concert band and jazz recordings, and performed as a freelance jazz, funk, and pop musician. I earned my masters' degree from Youngstown State University in May 2016, where he studied with world-renowned saxophonist Dr. James Umble. I received his bachelor of music degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2014. I also had the privilege to study with Dr. Frederick L. Hemke in the summer of 2014. I've taught saxophone in the Youngstown, OH and Indiana, PA areas. As a teacher, saxophone fundamentals such as embouchure, sound production, and finger technique are important to me, while also focusing on general musicianship through rhythm studies and musical interpretation. I also teach jazz improvisation and music theory/ear training.
