Hi, my name is Josh Weinberg. I have over 10 years experience teaching drums (to all different ages) & got an award from Berklee College of Music's Community Affairs Dept. for my teaching work in the Boston area. I graduated Berklee cum laude honors and w/ 2 degrees, drum performance & electronic production/design. I teach a wide variety of techniques & cater each lesson plan to you, the student, to maximize our time together & help make you the best musician you can be! I can travel to you for in-home lessons or you can come to my studio in Brighton, which is a nice, isolated space where you won't be distracted by other lessons happening in the adjacent room like in some other studios/schools. In addition to teaching, I frequently performs with bands around the northeast U.S., & have performed with internationally acclaimed artists such as Nona Hendryx, Simon Shaheen, & Richard Devine. Between 2012-2016, I've performed in 5 countries - USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, & Turkey.

I have been teaching privately for over 10 years. I have worked with students of all ages. I have taken what I've learned from studying drums myself for over 12 years, with 6 different teachers and I formulate what I feel like is the best of the best lesson plans, which I custom make for each student, each lesson to provide the most growth and most positive experience possible.

If desired, I can teach out of several books - including Garwood Whaley - Musical Studies for Intermediate Snare Drummer, Charley Wilcoxon - The All-American Drummer: 150 Rudimental Solos, Charles Dowd - Funky Primer for the Rock Drummer, and Tommy Igoe - Groove Essentials 1.0+2.0

Or I can teach without any books as I have a wealth of knowledge in me!

I teach rudiments, hand+foot techniques, coordination exercises, grooves - stemming from rock to funk to jazz, bossa nova, samba, west african, and much more.

Josh is a great teacher! This is my very first approach to learning how to play an instrument and he goes over every concept very clearly and patiently. He also explains the technical background behind every concept and includes formal assignments for me to practice from one lesson to the other, which really helps optimize the time spent in the studio as well as speed up the learning curve. I would strongly recommend him to other students!

Josh helped me mix and master my first track and showed me step by step how to do so. He also showed me many different techniques in ableton to make my tracks unique.

He really is very knowledgeable and his passion really comes through in his teaching! Taking lessons with Josh is a lot of fun & I'm closer to where I want to be with my musical goals each and every lesson!
