Hi there! My name is Josh. I have been playing guitar for the majority of my life and have been teaching since 2010. I have a music degree with a focus on classical guitar and I play rock, blues, jazz, folk, pop, and just about anything you want to learn. Whether your goals are to strum and sing, improvise, learn classical guitar or rock, or understand music theory, I want to help you reach them. Music is my life and I love being able to share every bit of knowledge I have with my students. It is a blast to watch my students progress and get excited about guitar.

As a player, I learned what to avoid and what to utilize in order to accelerate my playing as quickly as possible and you will save time and limit frustration with my methods. I will teach you how to practice, which is the single most important part of learning. Effective practice yields great results for everyone. Often teachers will only explain the "how"; I teach the "how" and the "why" so you will have ample knowledge to grow and explore on your own.

*** Lesson Details ***
I will teach you to play the songs/styles that you love. I provide my own transcription of each song and explain and demonstrate each element. Learn how to read music, create rhythms for strumming, build your chord knowledge, improvise, train your ear and understand song structures. We will coordinate a lesson plan that will fit your schedule and accelerate your learning.

I keep my lessons fun and upbeat, but with a focus. I ensure full comprehension of all subjects covered, and make sure that each student is challenged and learning constantly.

My main word of advice is "Be patient." Learning an instrument takes time, practice and is a gradual process that is rewarding beyond words. Acknowledge every little improvement in your playing because that is what we want. I promote a minimum of 2-3 separate 30 minute practice sessions. There's no reason to put it off any longer. Let's get started!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Plenty of parking, music stands, amp, extra picks, tuners, a comfortable setting, great attitude, and seating for parents. Students only need to have their guitar and a notebook.

For Online: Logitech C920, dual cam, good sound quality and lighting, and fast bandwidth

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide music stands, extra picks, a tuner and a great attitude. Students only need to have their guitar and a notebook.

*** Specialties ***

· Rock Guitar · In studio My experiences with Josh have been great. I have played guitar for many years, but my approach has always been lacking in relation to technique. Josh has helped me form a better mechanical understanding of my posture and movements. The adjustments he has helped me make have resulted in less stress on my fingers, wrist, and arms. He has always been thoroughly prepared for lessons. I would absolutely recommend Josh, especially for new musicians who want to learn their instrument in a fundamentally sound and detail oriented manner.

· Classical Guitar · In home Been a student of Josh's for a few months now and feel very fortunate to have found him. His attention to detail, continuity between sessions, and obvious broad knowledge base are a few of the elements making this a very rewarding learning experience. I am learning to read music, understand music theory, and develop technique. I have very much looked forward to each lesson which Josh takes the time and effort to build upon with clear assignments and follow up. Josh is highly personable, professional and supportive. I highly recommend Josh.

I look forward to each class as I learn more.

· Classical Guitar · Excellent, safe and trustworthy.

Josh has been the best guitar teach I have had (I have had three others in the past). He is exceedingly patient, flexible and very knowledgeable about the subject, for both theory and practice.

I have a better understanding of the mechanics, style and technique of classical guitar than I had coming in and have learned some really excellent pieces. Josh works at my pace and understands when work and 'life' interfere with my ability to practice during the week.

· Guitar · Wished I found Josh sooner

Josh has all the ingredients of the ideal teacher. He genuinely cares about my progress (or lack thereof). He is very patient. He tailors each lesson to what I want to learn and play. He is able to answer my questions - his knowledge of music runs deep. He spends significant time outside of my lessons to prepare for each lesson itself. And he gives me homework.
I recommend giving Josh a try before you make a decision.

· · Guitar Lessons

Josh is, in my opinion, the best kind of teacher for learning anything. He’s that rare individual that thoroughly enjoys what he does and is very knowledgeable. He’s very flexible and easy to reach outside of normal class hours for any questions that might pop up. He’s also an advocate for fun which is important in learning anything new. Lessons never feel rushed and are focused around what I want to learn.

· Guitar · Fantastic Teacher!

I have been taking lessons with Josh for nearly two years now, and I feel very lucky to have found a guitar teacher like him. Josh has extensive knowledge about the guitar, and he presents it in a way that is accessible to even novice guitar players. He has a passion for what he does. He is excited about music and enjoys watching his students progress. When I began taking lessons with Josh, he asked me questions to discover what I wanted to get out of playing guitar. Josh, tailors my lessons to get results toward my goals and he keeps it fun. As a professional, Josh is prepared for my lesson each week. He gives me specific exercises to practice that move me in the direction I want to go. In addition, Josh is very generous with his time and always makes himself available to clarify questions between lessons. For me, this is an unbeatable value.

· Guitar · Love for music

My 8yr old daughter takes guitar lessons with Josh in a classroom setting, and has been for about a year now. I looked around for a teacher for a while before finding Josh and have been very pleased with the class and the progress my daughter has made. Josh really has a love for music that transfers well into the classroom. He is very patient with the students and puts effort into connecting with each of his students. We are very blessed to have found him and are grateful for foundation he is giving my daughter in music.

· Guitar · Josh is a great teacher!

I'm 47 and could pretty much tell you that I was holding a guitar, but not much more. Josh is very patient, and understanding. He doesn't even seem to get bothered by my endless, irrelevant questions. I've been putting off learning for 40 years, after working with Josh, I have no idea why.

The atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxed, and while he is willing to take it slow, it is very evident that Josh has the ability to take you to whatever level of play you are looking for.

· Guitar · Learn the guitar here.

If you want to learn everything about the guitar and music in general, Josh is your teacher. He is very patient with you and knows the pace you need to be on. Josh is unique in that he focuses on the songs that you want to learn. He will quickly learn the songs that you want to learn and will spell it out for you, step by step. In the way he explains the concepts of the guitar, you will be able to figure out many things on your own. He will tell you what you're doing wrong and help you fix it. He's very encouraging and doesn't let you say "I can't". It's more like Hey, hey, what can I do.
