I grew up in music, and started playing the piano when I was 6 years old, and began composing and using Logic Pro two years after that. I have been playing saxophone for 8 years, and am currently working to gain my bachelors degree in music performance from California State University, Fullerton. During my saxophone instruction I also began learning clarinet as a supplementary instrument, and have been playing it for 3 years. What I love about music the most, is how deep it resonates with the human soul and how the music stems from the passion of the composer and the performer.
I feel that my job as a teacher is to instill a sense of passion and love for music in my students, in addition to teaching them the instrument and the rudiments of music. I also am a strong believer that the best way to grow as a musician is to perform, to play with other musicians, and to listen to as much music as one can get their hands on. My teaching style emphasizes deliberate and consistent practice schedules and a very broad and visceral understanding of music as a whole.
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) is a membership association of more than 480,000 US composers, songwriters, lyricists and music publishers. The ASCAP is committed to nurturing music makers throughout their careers.
My daughter had her first saxophone lesson and can't wait for the next one. Joseph was very patient with her and explained the basics of the saxophone.
Cool an awesome teacher!!
I've had other piano instructors, but with Joseph I've learned a lot more.
Joseph lets you practice something until you get it right. There's no doubt when moving onto the next lesson.
I highly recommend this teacher. He relates well to students while educating them in both the technique and spirit of music. During my year of studenthood to this teacher, I have grown faster than I could have imagined.
