My name is Joe A., and I am a graduate of Columbia College of Art in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating with a BA in filmmaking with a minor in poetry, I moved back home to St. Louis to start my own filmmaking company, Red Fox Video Productions. While completing my degree, I served as editor for Columbia's poetry periodical, The Columbia Poetry Review, and helped many fellow poets, authors, and essayists improve their writing. Upon moving to St. Louis, I continued making films, writing film reviews for Eleven Magazine, and playing folk music with my band Indian Blanket. I began playing guitar, writing music, writing poetry, and making films when I was 12 years old and haven't slowed down since. After spending 7 consecutive years as a teacher/professor's assistant and one year teaching film critical theory, I quickly found myself gravitating towards art education. I love to pass my enthusiasm for art on to my students and to keep my lessons fun, informative, and memorable. In order to help instill in my students a desire to further their own education in their free time, I tailor my lesson plans to each client's specific individual needs so that with every tutoring session, they leave feeling proud of the new understanding they've gained.
