Hello there, my name is Jose Valdez and I am a guitar player finishing my Masters in Jazz Performance from the University of North Texas. I am a versatile musician that can play several styles like pop, rock, reggae, funk, latin music, jazz, folk etc. I am Peruvian and have lived in brasil for 2 years so I know a lot of brazilian and south american rhythms. I am very passionate about music and teaching and really enjoy giving lessons to people that are fond in learning. I have lots of resources for teaching like books, pdfs, backing tracks etc. I have a lot of experience playing live and a lot of experience as a teacher. I like to combine those two when teaching, bringing the most of the real world playing with all of the pedagogical resources and knowledge I have to the table. My teaching philosophy is simple; teach the student music he/she loves and feels passionate about as a priority and compliment his learning experience with different resources while studying different aspects of music theory, harmony, melody as well as listening a lot to the music to understand all of the nuances and small details.
