A typical lesson includes a healthy mixture of learning, silliness, and critical thinking to help you or your child understand not only how to plunk out notes on a piano, but to understand what they're doing and why it works. Students should bring a notebook, flash cards, and whatever books they have been working on with them. Students who have had experience playing the piano before should bring an audition piece so I can ascertain what skills they have and what would help them best to progress into their future as a virtuoso. Also, bring a funny joke. I'm always looking for some good ones!
Parents should also expect to take part in helping their children to practice every day by setting reminders or alarms. Typically, children are rewarded after having practiced every day of the week, but if a parent feels they too have helped their child extensively throughout the week, they may also receive a treat.
