My three children have studied classical guitar with Jonathan, beginning with the Suzuki method at age 5, and I couldn’t recommended him more highly. He is a professional, caring, and dedicated teacher, and a phenomenal musician. He is attuned to each child’s needs and tailors lessons to their individual learning styles. He holds a very high standard for his students but is gentle in his approach. Jonathan incorporated theory into lessons from a young age and adapted lessons to their musical interests as they grew older. My oldest went on to study at Juilliard Pre-college and performed with the NYYS Chamber Music Program at Carnegie Hall. He's won many awards including the National YoungArts Competition, performed with a symphony orchestra, and was accepted to top conservatories and college music programs. I have also taken lessons with Jonathan and can recommend him wholeheartedly for both adults and children, from beginner through advanced performance level.

I have been taking classical guitar lessons with Jonathan. As a teacher myself, I am a life-long learner and a lover of music and a pretty good judge of teachers. At 50, I began with Jonathan and even though mastering classical guitar remains my mountain to keep climb, as long as Jonathan is climbing with me, I will never give up. I have watched him work with kids as well and he knows just when to push and when to be gentle. But bottom line, Jonathan is a great teacher because he continues to work for his own mastery of the guitar he loves.

Jonothan is a marvelous guitar teacher who is patient, understanding, friendly, and devoted to making sure you love the guitar as much as he does. He is engaging and passionate and learning with him is an experience like no other. I have him to thank for my love of the guitar and music overall.
