Viola with Jonathan M.

I am a professional Violist in the Louisville Orchestra. I began playing the Violin at age 6 and switched to the Viola at age 13. I attended Indiana University (1999-2004) for my Bachelor's degree and studied with Alan DeVeritch who was a student of William Primrose. Then I attended Rice University (2004-2006) for my Master's Degree in Viola Performance. There I studied with James Dunham who is a former member of the Cleveland String Quartet. I have extensive knowledge of the Suzuki Method as I went through all 8 books of the Violin repertoire. I also know extensive advanced repertoire for both Violin and Viola. I am also very experienced with orchestral excerpts due to my over 20 years playing orchestral repertoire. I pride myself in my ability to have my students playing at a very high musical level. I also specialize in a relaxed technique where I want my students to play with the least effort to create a beautiful sound as possible.
