*** Studio Equipment *** piano, recording equipment, guitar, tenor sax, large dedicated studio, *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide some of the necessary musical materials, pieces and worksheets. Students should have their own instrument, metronome and any extra music that they personally would like to work on. *** Specialties *** I have training in classical guitar, but I have spent many years playing a multitude of different styles of guitar including jazz and spent a period of time in Brazil where I studied bossa nova. Before beginning serious study of classical guitar, I was deeply involved in the study of jazz guitar, but made the decision to explore improvisation on a different instrument. My experience as a jazz pianist has largely been centered around organizing jazz and improvisation groups which were the vehicle for either my arrangements or original compositions. As a composer I have sought to explore using different methods for facilitating improvisation amongst musicians of various skill levels and backgrounds and have thus explored free improvisation, graphical scoring, sound painting and other methods. Additionally I've been involved with dramatic and musical theater for many years, having participated as an actor, performer, as well as a musician. I perform and have my compositions performed throughout New York City on a regular basis.

Jonah has been such a gift to our little Jacob. He is so funny and engaging, Jacob has excelled so much in the past several months. Not only is he more excited for his lessons, he's also much more engaged with practicing. The lessons are simply but theres plenty of room for advancement. Hes a wonderful addition to our family and has really formed such a wonderful, caring bond with our son. Would highly recommend taking lessons.

Jonah is knowledgeable about so many different aspects of music, I felt like I could ask him anything! Lessons are fun and he knows how to meet you at whatever level you're at and push you farther. I really appreciate how he can share technical info in a way that is accessible. Highly recommend!

Jonah is hilarious and engaging, and knows a ton about audio engineering. It's great to work with someone with so much experience, and cool to hear about all the projects he's working on. I'm a senior in high school going to school for audio engineering next year, and Jonah helped me get into my top choice for college.
