- Teaches students:
- Ages 7+ and special needs
- Teaching since:
John has been teaching private lessons since 2006 to a wide variety of students; some beginners, others advanced; older and younger. John has helped students reach their personal goals, whether that was just to play a few songs at summer camp or a friend's birthday, or to write and record their own material.
John received his Bachelors in Music Performance (Concentration in Classical Guitar) at Truett-McConnell in 2011. As an expert, John looks forward to helping new students achieve their goals, whatever they might be. His teaching style is comfortable, personable, but challenging and encouraging.

We could not be more please with Sophia’s ukulele lessons with Mr. Cathey. He makes the lessons fun and enjoyable yet educational. We highly recommend lessons with Mr. Cathey.
Mr. Cathey is patient, knowledgeable and kind. He stresses the importance of practice and guides you toward improvement for a long term guitarist. He is encouraging and makes the most of ever lesson. Great guitarist!
Great guitar lesson. This was my boys first ever guitar lesson and they easily engaged with Mr. John. He was very friendly and patient with them (they ask a lot of questions). They seemed to be very engaged in the lesson and are already excited for their next lesson.+ Read More
My son is happy with his guitar teacher and enjoying the class.
Our daughter really enjoyed her first lesson. John Michael was very nice and very clear in his instruction.
Thanks for all you do John Micheal! (I accidentally hit "4" before 😬)
Thanks John Michael - I think we're off to a great start!
John is an awesome guitar and piano teacher. Kids absolutely adore him!
