If you're interested in taking lessons with me, contact me for my phone number as I am not a fan of this website at all. I will also give you my soundcloud so you can actually hear me (I don't know why that's not an option on here). If you only check out one recording on it, listen to Milestones because you can hear me playing with other people (Sholom is a solo bass original). I recommend finding Jazz or Popular Music teachers whose playing style you like. Finding a teacher whose teaching style and music works for you is extremely important.
I am a 21 year old bass player in Denver offering Jazz bass lessons to young people ages 6-19 of all abilities but specializing in beginner and intermediate levels. I grew up studying classical bass getting experience in orchestras such as DPO and DYAO while in early high school. I began playing more Jazz as I got older and started transcribing bass players and playing along with my favorite recordings and I went to college at the New School for Jazz for a year after graduating high school. I have played at the Telluride Jazz Festival, Fat Cat Jazz club, Dazzle Jazz (now Baur's) and I have played countless professional gigs and jam sessions in Colorado and New York City. I have studied with Mark Stefaniw, Ken Walker, Matt Brewer, John Patitucci, Ron Carter, Rufus Reid, Ari Hoenig, and Ben Monder. I have played with Joel Ross, James Francies, Todd Reid, Aaron Burnett and others. I play Double Bass and Electric bass and I would help you or your child go through method books, learn good technique, and most importantly, I want to help you or your child learn music in a down to earth way. Learning music by ear, grooving, listening to recordings will come a lot earlier than most Double Bass teachers. We would learn your or your child's favorite songs together, experiment with different ideas, work on grooving with good time, and talk more about the non-academia aspects of music which is too often not taken seriously enough. Ultimately, I want to help you accomplish what you want with music in your life, whether you want music to be something you enjoy while you pursue something else, or whether you want to eventually pursue a career in music. I aspire to have every lesson inspired, engaging, and special to you. I offer lessons at your home for 35 dollars (within 30 minutes of where I live). I can travel further but there will be an increased rate. Send me a text or call me if you're interested. I would love to work with you or your child. "Very Creative, I love it". - Rufus Reid, bassist.
